4th Women's Leadership Circle (WLC) meeting in Nepal
The 4th Women Leadership Circle meeting was held in Kathmandu, Nepal on 12th February with 26 women participants. There were 13 women farmers and leaders from six districts (Sharlahi, Lamjung, Gorkha, Chitwan, Kavre and Sindhuli) and 13 professional women representing energy, enterprise and natural resource management sectors. The theme of this WLC meeting was "alternative energy technology for women".
Ms. Tara Shrestha from Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) presented the National Rural Renewable Energy Programme (NREEP) and how women can access these resources. The rural women had several questions regarding subsidy policies, technologies to distill oil from different herbal plants, bio-gas and on enterprise development. Dr. Indira Shrestha from the Bio-gas support programme (BSP); Dr. Bijaya Bajracharya and Ms. Sabita Dhakwa from Micro-enterprise Development Programme (MEDEP), Ms. Meena Kunwar and Dr. Narayani Tiwari answered their queries and provided information. They also shared the contact details of the concerned technical/professionals in these areas.
