First UNFCCC Gender Action Plan

After a decade of work from civil society and negotiations with Member States, countries adopted the first UNFCCC Gender Action Plan (GAP). The objective of the GAP is to advance women’s full, equal and meaningful participation and promote gender-responsive climate policies and actions. The Gender Action Plan identifies five priority areas: (1) capacity building, knowledge sharing and communication; (2) gender balance, participation and women’s leadership; (3) coherence; (4) gender responsive and means of implementation; (5) monitoring and reporting.
