A Toolkit for Gender Mainstreaming in Agribusiness Incubation

The toolkit is a result of widespread stakeholder consultation processes conducted by FARA and its partners, and aims to spearhead and advise on gender mainstreaming into business incubations processes under the UniBRAI program. It provides support to incubation programmes, incubator managers and incubates who wish to promote inclusive businesses, and motivates intended users by providing practical gender mainstreaming tools to use.

Women’s Economic Empowerment and Agribusiness: Opportunities for the gender transformative agenda

The study identified three main external drivers of the more innovative and transformative gender agendas: the project context; the commitment from the donor to addressing gender issues in agribusiness and value chain development, underpinned by technical support; and accreditation for fair trade and decent work.

Addressing the barriers that reduce the participation of women along the agricultural value chain, from production through to processing and trade will be pivotal in transforming their role in the sector and in empowering them economically.

Investing in Women along Agribusiness Value Chains

This report aims to help companies close productivity and efficiency gaps in agribusiness value chains, particularly those in smallholder production. At each stage—(1) input provision and use; (2) production; (3) post-harvest processing and storage; and (4) transportation, marketing, and sales—it outlines key challenges that women face, highlights business benefits, and offers potential private sector solutions.

Investing for Positive Impact on Women

This paper applies the Total Portfolio Activation framework to help mission investors maximize their social and environmental impact across their entire portfolios and to generate positive benefits for women and girls. It presents concrete examples of leading opportunities, as well as a variety of case studies of investors, funds, and initiatives that integrate gender considerations into their investment activities.

Women, Energy, and Economic Empowerment

This report highlights that with a “gender lens” approach to energy access programs, the millions of dollars flowing to energy access initiatives around the globe can have a greater impact on women’s empowerment.The purpose of this report is to reach a common understanding of this linkage and to establish a framework that takes this into account.
