Jeannette Gurung presented the summary of the Dialogue on Exclusion and Inclusion of Women in the Forest Sector held in Kathmandu Nepal in 2012, during the ‘Regional Dialogue on Women’s Inclusion in Landscape Management in Asia’ held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on 7-9 October 2014.

The purpose of the Dialogue on Exclusion and Inclusion of Women in the Forest Sector held in Nepal were to

  • Create a better understanding of perceived advantages of and constraints to including women in natural resource management;
  • Make recommendations on how to include women at all levels in ways that can benefit forest-dependent communities and climate change interventions
  • Identify areas of agreement as well as disagreement and further develop recommendations that address specific stakeholder questions around gender and forestry.
