UNFCCC’s Standing Committee on Finance Session on Gender and Climate Finance

Jeannette attended the UNFCCC’s Standing Committee on Finance session on Gender and Climate Finance in Arusha, Tanzania, on Sept. 2-3. She spoke on the session on best practices to the questions of How can gender responsive climate projects in ag and NRM be designed to ensure effective participation and benefit women at every stage of project cycle and how can readiness process be scaled?

Jeannette focused on the importance of  Outcomes and Accountability as key to public climate finance, and a perspective that views money as the vehicle for achieving these, through the activities of project implementers. She also noted the significance of climate champions, exemplified by a woman conservation biologist, who was responsible for the successful women’s empowerment  initiative  within the Masai community visited by the Forum attendees.
