Webinar: Measuring Impact – Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture

Today, women do not benefit as much as men from their participation in agricultural activities. Along the value chain, women often produce less than men, are restricted to low-skilled work, earn less income and in some cases do not have control over income, limiting empowerment. And yet, women’s inclusion could increase agricultural outputs by 2.5 – 4% globally. Women’s inclusion is, therefore, a top priority for agribusiness, investors, and practitioners. But how do we measure impact?

WOCAN, in partnership with Dalberg, hosted a webinar on 25 April to discuss a range of frameworks for social impact measurement in the agriculture sector in ways that assure transparency and real and quantified benefits for women. Over 270 participants from public, private and philanthropic organizations registered to attend. Wendy Okolo shared the gender tool of IDH, Megan Cassidy shared ACUMEN/ 60 Decibels’ toolkit called LeanData which documents lived experience of men and women, Tania Beard shared Dalberg’s evidence-based strategy to mobilize investment for women’s empowerment, and Jeannette shared the W+ Standard.
