Workshop on Gender, Conflict and Cooperation in the Context of Climate Action, Nepal

Dibya Gurung, Core Associate for WOCAN, presented the W+ Standard and the findings of the recent study on Gender Assessment in REDD+ in Nepal conducted for the World Bank in a workshop organized by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and Flood Hazard Research Center Middlesex University. The purpose of the workshop was to share and discuss findings from seven research projects supported by the four year DFID / NWO-WOTRO funded Conflict and Cooperation in the Management of Climate Change Programme. This workshop explored the gender dimensions of climate-induced NR conflicts, in terms of differential impacts on women and men, as well as the gender dimensions of engagement in conflict; The gender dimensions of cooperation in the face of climate change/climate change responses and conflict; and how the interests of diverse groups of women disadvantaged by climate change related NR conflicts can best be addressed in policy and practice.
