WOCAN facilitated theGender Integrated Planning workshop for Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) on 7-9 November 2017 in Pattaya, Thailand. A training team from Women Organizing for Change in Agriculture and Natural Resources Management (WOCAN) conducted the workshop.
A total of 27 participants (16 women and 11 men) from five countries (Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia and Timor-Leste) including the SEAPA Secretariat staff and SEAPA Board member attended the workshop.
The objective of the workshop were:
- To conduct a gender capacity gap analysis
- To develop and/or improve the individual organization or country level gender integrated plans, which can feed into the SEAPA secretariats strategic planning.
During the two-day (s) workshop, participants were introduced to key gender mainstreaming concepts and an organizational framework to assess their own organizations, and country level action plans.
Individual country action plans for gender mainstreaming were developed around four major themes:
- Enhancing Technical Capacity for Gender
- Promoting Accountability
- Generating commitment from leadership and management
- Enhancing organizational culture for enabling gender equality
