The W+ Standard Documents Open for the Second Public Consultation

We would like to thank everyone who sent their comments during the First Public Consulation of theW+ Standard and requirements. Please find below the compilation of all comments and responses .
We are pleased to announce the release of WOCAN’s W+ Standard Version 1.2 and requirements for the Second Public Consultation, beginning February 12, 2015.
To accelerate women’s empowerment, WOCAN has created the W+ Standard to measure positive impacts to women’s social and economic empowerment and provides companies, governments and individuals a way to drive social and economic empowerment for women. The W+ Standard tracks women’s empowerment in six domains: time, income/assests, health, leadership, education/knowledge and food security. Establishing this standard of measurement made it possible to create W+ Units that investors can purchase to ensure progress in these areas. When incorporated into project design and execution, the W+ provides measurable, verifiable additional social benefits, resulting in marketable ‘W+ Units’.
The W+ can be applied to a wide range of projects, that aim to improve social, economic or environmental conditions. These include: Water supply;Renewable energy technologies; Climate change mitigation; Time and labor saving devices; educational programs and forest and agriculture activities.
The closing date for the First Public Consultation will be March 13, 2015.
