Maris Gavino, WOCAN Liaison, attended the IFAD Second Gender Awards on 25 November 2014 at the IFAD headquarters in Rome. This is the second year of the IFAD Gender Awards. The awards were launched by IFAD management to recognize the efforts and achievements of IFAD-supported projects in delivering on the strategic objectives of IFAD’s Policy on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment.Five projects have won IFAD Gender Awards for their work empowering rural women and strengthening gender equality. The winners for 2014 are:
- Programme for Increasing Sustainable Microfinance, Pakistan
- Kirehe Community Based Watershed Management Project, Rwanda
- Corridor Central Project, Ecuador
- Al-Dhala Community Resource Management Project, Yemen
- Rehabilitation and Community-based Poverty Reduction Project, Sierra Leone
IFAD also introduced the Intra-household Methodology Tool Kit prepared for policy makers to be able to benchmark visions and implementations especially on gender transformation.
