Women Organizing for Change in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management (WOCAN)has published the first of the new case study seriesentitled An Assessment of Gender and Women’sExclusion in REDD+ in Nepal.
This assessment was conducted byWOCANand the Himalayan Grassroots Women’s Natural Resource Management Association (HIMAWANTI)Nepalin February 2012 to provide a review of the current REDD+ policy, processes and pilots in Nepal from a gender perspective, and to highlight the extent to which these have includedor excludedwomen at the national and local levels. It also provides recommendations for how REDD+ initiatives can more effectively include women and attend to gender issues.
For this assessment, the study team visited three REDD+ related pilot project sites: ICIMOD-ANSAB-FECOFUN project sites, one in Dolakha District and one in Chitwan District, and the Climate Change and Partnership Program`s area in Lamjung District.
