WOCAN is one of the key partners of the Climate Finance Network (CFN), recently launched by the UNDP Bangkok Hub during theRegional Dialogue on the Role of Climate Proofing Growth and Development to Achieve the SDGs on 6 March in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Climate Finance Network (CFN) as a multi-partner initiative to scale up reforms across the Asia Pacific region that leverage greater financial flows for climate change and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As a collaboration among partners, the CFN will share cutting-edge knowledge from on-going reforms that are taking place at the country level.
The programme was launched in March 2019.
The CFN will work across six key thematic areas based on demand of key partner countries, with the provisional themes highlighted below:
- Climate Change and domestic budget reforms
- Direct access to international climate change finance
- Innovative climate change financing
- Gender and social inclusion and climate change finance
- Transparency and accountability on climate change finance
- Modeling impacts on climate economic growth
The expected results are:
- More and improved knowledge is generated by countries and for countries and made available for more effective and equitable climate finance management.
- More south-south cooperation and technical assistance are facilitated to increase capacity to access and manage climate finance equitably.
- Ministries of Finance increase their technical capacity and commitment to take forward the climate change agenda.
- More public and private investment is mobilized and leveraged to combat climate change
