WOCAN, in collaboration with AKIN Asia organized a panel discussion on ‘Women In Environment’ on 2 November in Bangkok. The panelists were Saranarat Oy Kanjanavanit, Chairperson of Green World Foundation; Madeleine Recknagel, Lecturer at the International Tourism Management department at Bangkok University; Ravadee Prasertcharoensuk, Director of the Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) and Dr. Wandee Khunchornyakong Juljarern, Chairperson and CEO of SPCG Public Company Limited (SPCG) and Chairperson of Solar Roof Company Limited (SPR). The discussion was moderated by WOCAN member, Regan Pairojmahakij a climate change and forestry consultant.
Oy shared her work towards regreening of Bangkok city and the need for individual realization for clean and green environment. Madeleine discussed her initiative for zero waste/ sustainable behavior by being part of Project Koh Sak (beach clean ups) and the BIG Tree Group. Ravadee discussed her work with sustainable fisheries and providing new markets for fisherfolks (women and men) and Dr. Wandee, shared her inspirational journey of starting the largest solar power generation company in Thailand with solar investments attracting more than USD 800 million.
