Jeannette attended the USAID Gender Lens Impact Investing forum in Bangkok, Thailand, 11-13 March 2015, to discuss how to accelerate gender lens investing in Asia. USAID presented the findings from recent field visits in Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam which identified leaders in Asia for gender lens investing and also presented a portfolio of opportunities that demonstrate the breadth and depth of the potential acceleration of the gender lens investing field in Asia.
USAID also announced that under a new $400,000 investment, they will partner with Asian and U.S.-based organizations to identify key data gaps in some of the opportunities highlighted during the event, such as investing in women entrepreneurs in ASEAN, or investments in Indian women and girls’ impact businesses. Their objective is to attract more investors to take the gender lens approach in their investment strategies and also it is an invitation for experts in gender equality and women’s empowerment to firmly ‘lean in’ to the world of finance
