Sue Phillips has been appointed to Expert Panel of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (IC-VCM) as a Gender Subject Matter Specialist. Sue will be supporting the Council in developing Core Carbon Principles and an assessment framework for reviewing voluntary carbon market standards over the coming year.
Sue’s appointment reflects the growing interest and awareness in leading parts of the sector that gender considerations are central to the issuance of carbon credits and the achievement of climate goals. A significant part of strengthening the integrity of voluntary carbon market operations is ensuring that gender and wider social considerations are considered as integral to market operations. IC-VCM is the new governance body established to set up and enforce global standards for the voluntary carbon market. Its purpose is to ensure the voluntary carbon market contributes to the goals of the Paris Agreement by mobilising finance into projects and programmes that reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere and to do this in full alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
