WOCAN Conducted a Consultative Meeting to Identify Projects in Thailand that can apply the W+ Standa…

WOCAN invited potential partners to attend this consultative meeting to identify projects in Thailand that can apply the W+ Standard on 2 April 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Embassy of Sweden, IUCN Mangroves for Future Program, Needeed, OXFAM-GB, PSI and USAID LEAD Program. Jeannette gave a brief introduction of the W+ Standard and explained how the implementation of W+ projects works and where the demand for the W+ units comes from. Jeannette also explained the process of the W+ pilot project in Nepal and the money flow from the unit sales. The discussion focused on:

  • Monitoring and External audit cost and process
  • Demand for W+ Standard
  • Additional Domains
  • Network of implementers and buyers

The participants also discussed the potential of applying the W+ Standard in various projects in Thailand and noted various follow up actions such as presentation of W+ to other networks and project developers.
