WOCAN Conducted the Gender Integrated Planning Training Workshop for ICIMOD’s Kailash Sacred La…

Staff and partners of the Kailash Sacred Landscape Conservation and Development Initiative (KSCLDI)participated in the Gender Integrated Planning training workshop in Kathmandu, Nepal from 14-18 July. The training was facilitated by Dr. Barun Gurung, WOCAN Lead Trainer, and Dibya Gurung, WOCAN Core Associates and Trainer. There were 29 participants (16 women and 13 men) from Staff of KSLCDI Project and partners from India and Nepal. The purpose of the training was to enhance the understanding among participants of the use of gender analysis concepts to build effective planning processes and integrate gender into the planning processes.

The training included four modules for gender-integrated planning, beginning with a situation analysis, followed by setting objectives, developing activities and inputs, and indicators for monitoring and evaluation. The contents were applied to the existing KSLCDI project proposal, resulting in the development of ‘action plans’ for the four components of the project. These ‘action plans’ contain gender and socially disaggregated results, activities and inputs, and indicators for monitoring and evaluation.
