The Impact Investment Exchange(IIX), in partnership with WOCAN, was awarded a grant to implement the Frontier Brokers program of the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. IIX’s program, called Equity@Scale, will support impact enterprises with different types of capital: human and social capital in the form of investment readiness training and access to mentoring; financial capital in the form of access to investors and private sector equity investments; and economic capital in the form of market access and corporate networks. With an emphasis on shifting gendered power dynamics in favor of women entrepreneurs and accelerating the growth of gender-lens investing, Equity@Scale will provide enterprises and impact investing ecosystem players (including investors, foundations, banks, financial service providers, lawyers, corporate partners, and mentors) with the tools and resources to apply a gender-lens to their business approaches, processes and strategies of engagement. As a partner, WOCAN will assist high-impact enterprises by connecting them to a pool of mentors from the WOCAN membership to establish relationships that are mutually empowering, and providing curated in-person workshops that empower enterprises to play a role in women’s empowerment.” WOCAN’s Women’s Leadership Circles approach will be used to provide mentors and entrepreneurs with a forum for face-to-face interactions to build capacities and knowledge.
