Nisha Onta, Knowledge Management Coordinator, presented the W+ Standard at the parallel session on ‘Bottom-up Innovation: Case Studies on How LEDS and Green Growth Actions Can Advance Development Goals- Focus on Improved Social Inclusion’ during the Asia Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS) Forum held on November 11-13 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The Forum brought together over 250 policymakers, practitioners, and experts from across Asia and the world to learn about and discuss the latest low-carbon, green growth policies and actions that contribute to economic growth, job creation, and other national development goals. Nisha presented the W+ pilot project ‘Time Saving for Women Users of Biogas in Nepal’ as an example of how projects focused on lowering emission technology can advance women’s empowerment by applying W+ Standard. The participants expressed that the main lesson from the presentation was application of the W+ Standard to existing projects and how time saved can be monetized to be shared with project beneficiaries. Participants such as CDKN showed interest to learn more about W+ Standard and discuss possibility of collaboration with WOCAN.
Nisha also presented the pilot project at the Open Space Session: LEDS and Green Growth in Action. The session was an interactive ‘marketplace’ featuring displays and participants engaged in discussions to learn more about the W+ Standard.
