Workshop on Gender-Integrated Planning for Forest Management and Wood Processing

A workshop on Gender-Integrated Planning was conducted by WOCAN for Civil Society Organization (CSO) representatives between 21 – 23 May 2018 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The broad aim of the workshop was to build capacity for CSO representatives on methods and tools for gender equality, and to bring about increased participation of women in wood processing and forest management (small holders, communities and villages) SMEs in Lao PDR. Additionally, the methods and tools are to be used by CSOs in trainings for SMEs facilitating the participation of both men and women in managing their household businesses in a challenging regulatory environment (Voluntary Partnership Agreements-related).
The specific aim of the workshop can be summarized as follows:
To identify key gender issues in the forestry sector
To familiarize participants with gender analysis methods
How to integrate gender findings into Goals, Monitoring and Evaluation, & Activities and Inputs
Fourteen members of nine CSOs attended the three-day workshop, including four women and 10 men.
