At COP24, the Women & Gender Constituency (WGC) demands UNFCCC outcomes:
- Ensure human rights-based and gender-just implementation guidelines for the Paris Agreement
- Deliver on ambition, including finance
- Operationalize a robust and rights-based platform for indigenous peoples and local communities
- Effectively address loss and damage
- Place communities over markets
- Ensure a rights-based road map for Koronivia Joint Work
- Create a just and equitable transition for all
In the context of climate action overall, the WGC demands:
- Break free from fossil fuels and unsafe energy systems
- Move the money
- Listen to people, not profit
- Ensure climate ‘solutions’ are gender-just
- Promote energy democracy
- Protect ecological food systems
- Be led by ecosystem-based approaches
- Declare Geo-engineering and BECCS as ‘No-Go’
- Preserve the ocean
- Make fisheries and aquaculture sustainable
- Know that water is life
- Promote health, including sexual and reproductive health and rights
